Simple replacement for mechanical timer but has a few flaws I originally purchased one of these in 2012 to replace a mechanical timer as I had installed a two speed pump. It was simple replacement and worked fine. Mine did not keep good time. It would gain around 30 minutes a month. That’s a lot and necessitated correcting the time frequently. Battery backup not necessary I almost didn’t buy this unit because of misinformation in several of the negative reviews. I kept shopping for something with a battery backup because the claim was that even a momentary loss of electrical power would cause the unit to blink 12:00 midnight and no longer start the pumps. If you were gone on vacation, the pool would not run. That is incorrect. If you lose power momentarily, after it is restored everything will run normally.
